Ukrain Cancer Therapy

Ukrain is an intriguing new anti-cancer therapy now available at IMI.  Ukrain is a patented formula, which was developed in 1978 by Dr. Wassyl J. Nowicky, director of the Ukrain Anti-Cancer Institute of Vienna, Austria. 

Ukrain is a unique combination of a common herb named Greater Celandine (Chelidonium majus L.) and also known as a traditional folk remedy in the 1930s.  This herb was found to be effective in some cancer cases, and is key in one of the oldest cytotoxic drugs, Thiotepa. 

Studies have shown Ukrain increases the oxygen consumption of both normal and malignant cells, but while oxygen consumption normalizes in non-cancerous cells within fifteen minutes, it decreases irreversibly to zero in cancer cells.  This effectively kills the cancer cells.  This unique combination given intravenously or intramuscularly has been shown to decrease DNA, RNA, and protein synthesis in malignant cells, causing cell death.  While Ukrain has shown a strong affinity for killing cancer cells, it does not seem to have this similar toxicity to normal cells.  This makes this therapy a groundbreaking treatment for cancer.

A study of 70 terminal cancer patients in Austria found the Ukrain to have positive outcomes for leukemia, non-small and small cell lung cancers, colon cancers, central nervous system cancer, melanomas, ovarian cancer, and renal cancer.

Investigations into the benefits of Ukrain for the treatment for cancer are currently underway in Austria, Canada, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Switzerland, and Thailand.
