Far-infrared Sauna

Far Infrared Sauna

The Far Infrared Sauna is a detoxification method that uses radiant heat, also called infra-red energy. Infra-red energy is a form of energy that can penetrate the body tissues over 3.5 cm (1.5 inches) deep, without having to heat the air in between.  These rays are selectively absorbed by tissue and aid in the healing of a variety of conditions. Also, only 20% of the available energy heats the air leaving the remaining 80% to heat the body. Radiant heat is softer, heating the air to only 110o-150o rather than the 180o-230o that a traditional sauna might achieve.

Infrared saunas are much easier, and more comfortable to use than old-fashioned hot-air saunas. The air temperatures is about 50 to 125 degrees cooler than in traditional saunas, guaranteeing easier breathing and cooler air while feeling as warm as the person's reference. Comprehensive feeling of well-being is reported by the users.

For centuries cultures have recognized the therapeutic effects of heating the body to increase vitality and benefit the overall health of the body. Sauna therapy cleanses and detoxifies, relieves pain and improves circulation. Part of these effects are due to an increased functioning of the sweat mechanism which, as part of the excretory system of the body, enhances the elimination of toxins and waste from the tissues. In particular, the low temperature, dry heat of FIR saunas promotes the secretion of sebum, which contains higher toxin levels than sweat. The FIR Sauna was created to produce a deep, penetrating heat to increase metabolism and thus encourage profuse sweating.

Researchers in Japan and China have been studying the benefits of infrared technology over that past 25 years.  Studies have shown the infrared technology enables passive cardiovascular conditioning and training as the body heats and cools.  This automatically causes a change in heart rate, cardiac output and metabolic rate.
